Mr2

Okay guys I went over to a family friends house and he was selling one of his car

1988 Toyota MR2 supercharge special edition
80K org. miles
9.9 out of 10 condition
He is the org. owner
has all the paper work
-oil changes, up keep, window sticker etc...
100% stock
its a clean ass car
He says theres only been 800-1000 made in the us and its a rare find etc..

How much do you think its worth?
Also anyone know about these car's?
Im having trouble finding info.

we where all talking about cars
and I said I saw some corvettes racing the other day
he said his friend has a brand new one and they raced and he won
he's old so I figure he was BS

Is the MR2 that fast to take a vette??
I dont think it could take a vette
how fast are these stock anyone know?

thanks for the help

1988 for the US market Toyota brought a new choice for an engine for people longing for more power. Based on the same block and head, the 4A-GZE was equipped with a Toyota SC-12 roots-type supercharger and Denso top mount intercooler. The compression ratio, valve timing and ports were modified. The engine produced a maximum power of 145 hp (108 kW) and accelerated the small car from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 6.7 to 7.0s. In addition to the new engine, the MR2 SC was also equipped with stiffer stabilizer bars and reinforcements in the bodyshell to improve rigidity. Unfortunately, this model was never sold in European markets, although some cars were privately imported

Your best bet would be to take this info and post it at www.mr2oc.com they would be more than happy to give you their opinions.

Nice find though

It's probably worth about $4,000 depending on condition. No way a stock S/C would take a corvette. Even a modified one wouldn't have much of a chance.

You just said how fast they are.... 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 6.7 to 7.0s.

1988 s/c MR2 rare? Yeah i'd say so considering they made about 10,000 3or so of which made it the u.s.a very rare but so are parts and people to work on them. As far as dusting a vette probably not a new one but an 89 s/c mr2 automatic was the fastest production car from 0-60mph in the world at the time and twincharged mr2's pushing upwards of 18psi would probably catch a vette off guard to say the least oh and they cost less than a third of the money pretty much no matter what engine you want check out racing strong.com for their gm northstar v8 mk 1 mr2 and find a vette that can fuck wit that

There were no such thing as a "Special Edition" for the MR2. There was the ultra rare "Super Edition" that they only made 272 of in Japan ONLY.

I bet its just a normal Supercharged just very well maintained. With that its probably worth $3500 - 4000.

no doubt. I have an 89 s/c that i bought with 100k in poor condition for $400. Super charged cars were badged as a G limited model with a two tone paint though. Regardless from what I can tell the majority of s/c cars come fully loaded with all the options whether you want em or not

if it's a perfect condition, 100% stock, no rust, stock paint s/c car..... then there are mk1 guys that have and WILL pay more than $6,000 for these cars.....

the a/t sc mk1's were the FASTEST production cars from 0-30mph

i used to have an 87 with an ae101 4agze (on an aftermarket ecu, but otherwise stock LB) that up to about 100mph would have kept up with a corvette.... my uncle has a 01 which I drove getting on the freeway.... had about the same pull as my (at the time) mr2....
