strange gears ratio.....

been wondering this for a while.....

91 mr2 2.0 JDM non turbo 5 speed manual.....

my gears seem to be really close together.. in 5 gear and 80mph my car is registering at 4000 rpms.

is this common in any MR2s or is it just mine. i bought it like that and just need to know if i should worry or not.

RPM's and speed are about right. Though aftermarket rims/tires can make a difference in speedo readings...
But '91 MR2 with a 2.0 non turbo? are you sure it's a 2.0 or a 2.2 (5sfe)?

its set up like the 5sfe engine, but right on the valve cover gasket it says (16valve 2.0). dosent' even have a pcv valve which worried me, but was told that alot of overseas cars don't have any equiped because of the different emisions controls they have. the guy that i purchased it from paied 3 grand for this engine that was set up the same as the 2.2 but a 2.0.
