I been looking into a few turbo kits on mr2oc and dont know which to get. I was looking into a t3/t4, a 45 trim t3/to4e, and a GT turbo kit. The 1st 2 kits are $700 and the GT turbo kit is $1k. Im only running stock fuel, so dont want to get to crazy with a turbo kit, but then on the other hand want something that can get me some nice power later after fuel upgrades. But need something streetable for stock fuel. Good spool, good pull, ect. Im looking for 270-280rwhp right now, and looking to make close to 350rwhp later on down the road. 1 out of the 3 turbo kits has a internal wastegate, and the GT turbo and T3/T4 are external wastegates. I will be running a trunk mount intercooler with this set-up with a walboro fuel pump, and exhaust/intake/downpipe. Would these kits be good for stock fuel and stock tune? I would install the kit and go right down to the dyno to make sure im not to lean.
More info on these turbo kits??? They seem very cheap for a full turbo kit. What trim and a/r are the t3/t4's?? Are they any specific brand or something someone pieced together? Do they come with all of the oil lines, adapters, downpipe... etc. that you will need?
What do you mean by GT series? Is it a Garrett turbo? If so which one?? GT25, GT28, GT30, GT35?
For the power goals you are looking at..... I would recommend something like a TD06. This will be fine for 280whp with minimal lag and stock fuel (though not optimal).... and later down the road would support the 350whp you are aiming for. I would recommend buying something with an external wastegate. You may also want to look into the GT28RS.
-T3/T04E .50 AR cold, .58 AR hot ("45 trim") water/oil cooled turbo
-Internally wastegated (may require modification to trans. dust shield depending if yours is an innie or an outtie - easy to do)
-3" mandrel bent v-band DP
-T3 adapter for stock manifold
-Stainless AN fittings for oil feed/return
-Modified dipstick tube for fitment
-Less than 1500 miles on entire setup.
This is the one I plan on getting. Should be nice spool time, with a little more power then a ct20b which is what im looking for.
$700 shipped. Seems ok????
Oh and the other turbo is a gt25/40r and read some bad reviews on it. So sort of decided against it.
Also you had a ct27, how close to power do you think this t3/to4e kit will come? If not bypass the ct27 in power. It was either go for a ct27 or ct20b or get a full aftermarket kit for the same price.

gt28rs, td06, ct27, gt3071ts are all great options......if you just want the 270 on stock fuel, you will need to seriously up your bolt ons. that hp range is the absolute top for the stock 440's. unless you have a genIII in which casse yo uhave stock 540'cc injectors which will carry you to about 340 on pump gas with supporting mods. your best bet for a turbo would be the 3071 twin scroll from berk. it spools rather quickly and yo ucan run relatively low boost (16psi) to reach your 270goal. then just up the boost after yo uget some fuel tuning and you could reach all the way up to 450 @ 29psi with supporting mods
pretty much, like jazzcornet said, the stock fuel injectors are 440's on the genII, only support up to a max around the 275 mark. the stock fuel rail is also restrictive, has 3mm holes, most of the aftermarket are like 8+mm. and the 5sfe fuel pump is weak, needs to be replaced asap if going turbo swap, if you have a turbo 3s, the stock fuel pump will get you to around the 275 mark, but will need to be replaced as well if your going more than like 16pounds of boost. if you get a third gen 3s, it came with 540cc injectors, which will get you to the 340 mark or so.

I went with a greddy td06 internal wastegate 20G kit, 3" downpipe, 550cc injectors, ATS FPR, ATS 8mm bored fuel rail, and possably a rom tune. Its just a few of the td06 rom tunes i found dont have my exact mods. Mostly all of them have berk/greddy exhaust, and side mount ic. I have trunk mount IC, and custom 3" exhaust. Also the one im looking at is tuned without the ATS FPR if that matters?
How much power and i looking at with this setup on a 2nd gen JDm motor? Here are all my mods...
he would be guessing wrong...i'd say no more than 260whp at 16psi. assuming you have it tuned perfectly and your engine is healthy, you may get 270 out of 16psi. but realistically, you'll be running lean as hell until you get some ass behind that fuel pump

Lean with a FPR, bored rail, walboro, 550's and rom tune? What do you meen get some ass behind the pump? lol
I seen people make more with a ct20b on the same amount of boost and less mods. I was hoping to see at least 280-290rwhp with the 550's and rom tune at 16psi.

I put down 255whp with a CT27 on 91 @ 15psi.... no rom tune.... you're out of your mind.
