Gen1 Engine question-newbie

So, heres the deal.

This guy in my area blew his engine, forgot to tighten down his drain plug while changing the oil, and is selling his 86 N/A MR2 body stock, with 83,xxx miles on it for $300 bucks.

My question is: Would it be worth it to buy the body, then get a new engine(or rebuild it) and swap/put it back in? I don't have the tools/space to do that myself, so I'd be hiring someone to do it.

Or, should I just wait until spring to by a mister, and not bother with the whole thing?

I guess a better question is, how hard is a swap?

$300 is kind of steep, especially living in the north a car that old is bound to have some rust damage, see if you can talk him down the price some.

Depends on the condition of the body.. if there's a little rust try 200$. Rebuilding an engine shouldn't end up too costly, if you go to a decent place.
As for how hard a swap is, you just said you wouldn't do the work yourself, no? It also all depends on the kind of engine you wanna swap in it + the price of the engine.

If the body is in good shape and you don't end up taking it, send me a message with extra details. I might be interested!

If it's a clean body/interior I would pick it up. Not a bad price.
