looking for some advice on upgrading

I've got a 93 stock 5sfe mr2 and was looking into getting an aftermarket turbo in there. Nothing incredibly involved...I saw another post where a guy suggested a ct27 from ats racing, but looks like they only work with mr2s that have 3sgte's in already from what I can see. I don't know a ton about cars, heh, but any suggestions?

Turbocharging the 5S is not worth it. Save your money and do an engine swap. Or sell your car and buy one that is already turbocharged.

Aye, I was thinking about getting a 3sgte. Was looking to use www.mr2warehouse.com to get a full rear clip, although it's a bit pricey. Dunno any other good place to get it and if I did not sure if I'd be missing parts or anything.

Their prices are high, he mentions he will install a fuel pump which is good, a part most forget. double check that your getting a full uncut harness, and rear axle. and paperwork showing the mileage and if it was legally exported from japan. not sure if they get around that by exporting just the clip and not the whole car or something. in any case, 6k is high. my swap was 2473 for engine, tranny, ecu, harness, MAFs, and shipping. 180~ for new intercooler(side mount), 540 for the rear axles, 110 for the fuel pump. or about 3300 in parts, 1300 in labor, but i also had some custom stuff done, totaling 4600.
also, mine was shipped next day, his are "I now guarantee only a 4-6 months wait time.." which is ok if you need to save up or something, otherwise thats 4-6 months you could be enjoying your mr2 TURBO. lol
aslo, 6k will get you a decent mr2 turbo. no work or swap needed.

Yeah I was going to look into a new car as well maybe. Where'd you get all the parts for yours?

i have heard and seen good things about Dave with MR2 Warehouse/Pa Auto Racing. i have personally dealt extensively with Josh at Chico Race Works. i purchased my 3SGTE along with many other parts from Josh. can't go wrong with either vendor.

I know of a person that has dealt with Dave and it took him over a year to get his car back after Dave estimated a 4 month wait. It was like 13 months. The last 3 months he kept giving him excuses, and dates that the car would be done and never was. I think he ended up picking the car up after 13 months uncomplete and finished it himself. It seems he has more work then he can handle.

I do not doubt the quality of them at Mr2warehouse, or that he is trying to screw anyone over, like problemmr2 said, im sure he is busy and that 4-6month wait time is a little steep unless you need that time. not to mention the high price :p
I am to meet Josh from chico today to pick up my axle( I cant wait!! lol) but I do suggest finding a shop to do the swap, after thats nailed down buy a setup. I believe Chico sells clips, which would be a good option, if not, I can give you the number to the shop I used, which i highly recomend(1-800-839-4536, if you do use them, specify you want uncut harness and wait for one. takes a week at most), the only downside is they cannot give you an axle. which CRW charged 540 shipped for the axles. so your costs would be about the same as mine were. Im sure you could get it all down for 4k or less if you find a clip with everything.

PS as always, engine, ecu, tranny, full un-cut wireing harness, fuel pump(walbro ~100bucks), rear axles(540CRW, 750stealership), MAF sensor, intercooler(150-900), and labor (850-1500)

edit:: funny, uncut has a "u" in it, wonder how i missed that the first time.
