New with an MR2

Hello I am new. two days ago I purchased a 91 MR2 with a beams motor in it. I honestly don't know much about it so I came here to learn. I am not new to cars and racing as I have my rotary car but the 7 and the 2 are totally different in every way!

I am Jamie btw from SoCal

The FD is stock except for a downpipe, which it needs to get rid of the problematic precat. If anyone is interested in an FD I work with a very knowledgeable shop to custom build them.

Rotary myth #2

Apex seals don't just "go" You have to give them a reason to go. When people modify them it is often bad tuning that causing them to go. If the timing in a rotary is advanced or retarded far enough then a spark plug will fire on a seal. I see a lot go that way. My stock FD lasted about 80k miles and was still strong. I had it rebuilt anyways because I got sponsored.

I have always been amazed at how strong an apex seal is. stock apex seals can hold 20+lbs of boost when tuned properly.

Granted if you have a very highly modded car of any type you never know when the motor is going to go.

Yes it is N/A I am plesently surprised at how it kicks for an N/A

I have spent the last few years in my FD and am surprised how fun the MR2 is to drive. I honestly thought It would "dull" in comparison to my spunky FD but the MR2 is a blast! I love driving it (and you cant complain about the gas mileage) haha

Thanks everyone

those beams motors are amazing, it's was basically made to compete against hondas B18C type R motor, and toyota did a really good job. I wanted to get one for a long time, but they're expensive to get one imported to the states
