powertrain warranty

I have a 2002 MR2 with 54,000 miles. the car jumps out of gear and the dealer advises me I need to replace the transmission shift actuator and the shifter pump. They also advise it is not covered by the powertrain warranty and cost $6,000 to replace! Shouldn't this be covered?

Id belive it should be covered.

And something like that shouldnt cost $6,000. Try asking someone on MR2oc.com in the local area if they can help you with it. Im sure another MR2 owner could do it for cheaper.

sequential, eh? i think the powertrain warranty is 5 years or 60K miles, whichever comes first, from the date the car was first sold. you might be out of the 5 year coverage.

I have the 5 speed MT, but i think the warranty for all is 3 yrs/36000miles-which ever comes 1st. I would have never bought the sequential. But 6K is a total rip off. You could but a 1zz motor and trans for that with money left over.

that's the bumper to bumper warranty. the powertrain limited warranty should be for longer.
