Post life of an mr2 owner

i received the following in a few txt messages from an mr2 owner about buying and starting off with an mr2 here goes: you'll have a lot of fun but be prepared for 2 months of headaches to start off because thats the way 2's are you have to work out the kinks and replace the dumb stuff like hoses belts and alternators and its all hard to get and expensive... its worth going through the trouble but make sure all your electricals are in good shape headlight buckets wipers defrost and stuff like that the go for a ride and if your lucky it will be the love of your life and last forever... buying an mr2 is kinda like dating, get to know her before you start... then after you got her worry about messin it up, you might hit a tree and it will take time to heal and fix but it will be ok just dont go off the deep end and total her because youll never find another one (or 2) like her and you'll be miserable for the rest of your life ask yourself is it worth it to me is it worth my dedication? these are more than just car lessons... think about it but yes its worth it
i think thats pretty good advice for someone who is thinking about buyin a 2

THIS WAS FROM A FRIEND WHO WENT THROUGH THIS NOT EVERY FRICKIN 2 OUT THERE 2'S ARE AWESOME

OK..and what?
...Anyone buying any used car should check all the systems and make sure everything is road worthy. I went thru my 2, found a few things and fixed them.I didn't have 2 months of headaches to start with..

Ive owned 2 Mr2's. My First one I did very little maitenence to it and it ran perfect for a long time, and most people I know rarely have any major problems. Replacing hoeses and whatnot is something you will find on any 20 year old car. Its just common sense.

My MR2 has no heat or AC, manual seats, origionally manual windows (power conversion), no power steering, and has oil and coolant leaks....Its an 80's Sports car, A Real sports car, they are not supposed to be conveinient or easy. I bought my MR2 because I have a deep appreciation for the car and its legacy. I bought it to drive it fast and handle great thats all.

i love my MR2. bought it clean with low miles, put a lot of miles on it, but kept it clean. i plan on keeping it for quite some time to come, and it always puts a smile on my face.

I think you guys are taking this post the wrong way. I don't think the MR2's reliability was ever put into question here. I think it was simply just an entertaining story. BTW, love the girlfriend analogy. Think that is right on key!

I understood right off the bat that this was just a story, but this line in bold was stated like fact and what I refered to.:

its been a love/hate relationship for me...i love the car to death but hate all the down time that was involved in the build up over the first four or five years of ownership.....but since last spring when i finally finshed...i'd racked up more mileage on it the past year than i've had in the previous years all combined.....i just love driving her in the spring/summer but hate racking up the odometer on it....lol...when i get another daily driver/winter car....i think the mr2 will only see nice sunny days and rest in my garage in between those times....
