My 91 MR2 project

I've been a fan of these cars since I was about 13 and I just got one last week. It's not exactly mint, it needs a lot of work. This thread is for people who want to follow my progress on her (the car...nicknamed madeline/maddy). I have a flickr site with pictures but as I update pictures I'll also post them here and discuss what's been going on. My plans for this car are to make it look absolutely stock from the outside and paint it dark purple mica, one of the JDM colors for the MR2. The engine is currently blown (bad head) and it has over 240k miles on it so I'm opting out to just get a new engine and tranmission which I put down a deposit for today (5SFE). the interior will also look mostly stock except for some tasteful TRD things. The suspension...well..I'll leave that a secret for now

edit: if it wasn't already a given, all the work on this car will be done by me and some friends. No professional work at a shop or anything.

Wow.... definately needs some love. Should be a fun project.

My recommendations....

- Lose the blue interior and go black.
- Get rid of that truck driver style shifter.
- Get that 5S outta there.

-I am going black, I think I mentioned it in the description to one or more of the pictures
-Haha the shifter on the 91-92's is such a joke. TRD shifter in the next few weeks!
-5SFE is staying. I'd rather learn how to drive MR in a lower powered car. My next MR2 will be one of the craziest things our community will ever see. You just wait

Yup, you really got your work cut out for you. If you're gonna replce the motor, you really should go 3sgte. You will not regret it. Good luck and have fun...,
