Question 86 MR2...Supercharged?

Hey guys, I'm new here and new to Toyota's in general. I have an opportunity to buy an 86 mr2. I drove it the other day but did not look at the engine. It was pretty quick and it made a faint whistle, like the sound of a turbo...

Anyways, I came home and looked it up on kbb.com only to find out that they do not have an 86 listed as a supercharged version.

My question is did toyota come out with a supercharged 86 model mr2 or is this my imagination playing cruel tricks on me?

Thanks

1986 - Toyota launches "T" - Bar (T-Top) roof option with detachable glass panels. Modified the front spoiler making it less boxy and more aerodynamic. The Supercharged version introduced in Japan.

1988 - The supercharged MR2 becomes available in North America. You can tell an MR2 is supercharged if it has a decal on the back left that says "Supercharged". A decal is on both doors as well. If the vents on the engine compartment are raised up (rather than being flat) it's supercharged. There is an LED light on the tachometer that indicates when the supercharger is being used. T-Tops are standard on the supercharged model with color coded mirrors (the NAs have black mirrors.)

my 86 is supercharged, but ofcoarse i did a conversion. There were no 86 Sc's from the factory in 86 here. The one you drove probably had an air intake, the water pump belt was to tight and making a whining sound, or it did have an sc conversion. The easiest thing to do is pop the engine lid. I personally don't know of any 86 sc conversions around......other than mine of coarse.....
