A little HFH help, please.

My hose from hell is crapping out on me, so I'm going to change it. I need to order it from the stealership and have a few q's. It's a 92.

1. What is the part # for the hfh?

2. Should I go ahead and change the oil line that's under there too?

3. Will I need new gaskets for the turbo or d-pipe since I have to take them off?

4. Is there anything else I'm missing? How long should it take to change everything out?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Andy.

#1.) I just used high temp rubber hose of the same diameter.
#2.)What oil line? The oil feed line to turbo is metal and the return is a large rubber.(is that the one you mean?) You can replace that if it's cracked.
#3.)These gaskets can be used again if they're in good condition. You may want to go ahead and replace the small gasket that mates the oil line to the center of the Turbo.
#4.)That about covers it.

Note: While you're down there, I would recommend changing the small rubber hose at the oil cooler, get it out of the way and not have to worry about it for a long time.

Have fun!!!

I guess the return line is the other hose I mean. I haven't been able to look at it very well, but when I went to the dealer to see what I'd need, the diagram had two hoses on it, but didn't say what they were. We just figured one was oil and one coolant.

I think I have a bad exhaust manifold gasket, could I take the whole thing off there, so I can change that? Or is taking the turbo off still the best way?

Thanks MR2bad, I'm sure it'll be a joy to work on!

You don't need to remove the exhaust manifold to work on the HFH. But if you think your exhaust manifold gasket is leaking, then it would be best/easiest to replace it while you have the turbo off.
If you mean " take off the turbo and manifold as one piece"-No.
1st of all, I'm not sure that you could even access all the manifold bolts with the turbo still attached
and 2nd- The manifold and turbo conected would be very heavy and a bitch to handle/remove as one piece.
There are 2 coolant hoses(1 in, 1 out) associated with the turbo that originate and terminate with the water bypass line that runs along the backside if the engine below the exhaust manifold. They can be changed from the top of the engine bay are are fairly accessible.
Oh, and you're welcome...
