Gen1 MR2 conversion question

Ive got a 09/1987 MR2 (btw is that considered 87 or 88) and i have the GT version 5-speed 4age AW11, and I want to see if its possible to convert that motor to a 4agze? As in, adding the supercharger and top-mount intercooler from the 4agze (or possibly from another motor since turbo is out of the question due to header/firewall issues). If not, do i just have to settle with a swap? If so, what do i have to change/upgrade in order to do so?
Any kinda of performance upgrade advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

Fort Smith... So far, I think I have the only "running" Mk1 MR2 in Fort Smith. Btw, I will get a pic of mine pretty soon to put in my signature or something. Where are you at in Arkansas?

Your best bet is to just do a whole motor swap. the 4AGZE's internals are setup differntly I think to handle the boost. Also you will need a few more things then just a Supercharger and IC... like Wiring harness, ECU, possible different lines...etc

Yea, the 4agze blocks are structurally built different. I guess there is some extra ribbing around the cylinders, and around the outer part of the block. A friend of mine builds these motors into formula atlantic motors. He told me about when they tried using 4age blocks, and they blew motors left and right. I would say go with the complete swap, you don't want to put all this effort, work, and money into something like that, then end up toasting it a few months later.

I'm in White Hall , just north of Pine Bluff.
Yeah, there's not many MR2's of any gen. in Arkansas. Especially the MKI's. ModifiyerMR2 is great with the MKI. He can be a big help to you as some of the others on this forum.
(except for the guy who thinks you can solve all your problems by burping the cooling system, lol)

Thanks for the tips. Engine swap it is. I've also been considering upgrading to a MK2 just because the stock turbo and the significant HP difference (145 to 200) Though, I am stuck on the masculinity of the MK1.
Btw, what add-ons can I do to the 4age that can be integrated into the future 4agze? I mean, besides cold-air intake since ive already fabricated my own. I was considering a Accel super-stock coil pack since i can get one from my work for like $43. A VERY trusted mechanic told me that if i did put the super-stock on my MR2 that i would need to slightly increase the gap of the plugs to actually achieve a boost in HP. Sorry, I am a little impatient on upgrading HP. I used to own a 96 Nissan Sentra before the MR2 (which the Nissan had 167k miles and the MR2 has 141k and conviently got traded across for an extra $600 about 2 1/2 weeks ago ), so you can understand my enthusiasm towards some extra HP.
