Has anyone heard of four layer head gasket for our mr2?
Can I ask where to buy a good head gasket and ARP head stud near San Diego Ca. or a website please.

So far this is the only place that carries the ARP http://www.twosrus.com/catalog/produ...roducts_id=185

I kinda need one asap I don't want to leave the engine open for a long time I might forget where things are lol.

Thank you in advance MR2 owners so far this site has help me alot and learned many things about my newly purchased MR2...by the way I never felt the turbo feeling yet when purchased found out the car was in this condition already...

twosrus is a good place for the ARP bolts. Never heard of a 4 layer headgasket. But then, I believe all head gaskets are layered. Though, I don't know how many layers an OEM one has. HKS,Cometic and TTE all make good headgaskets(in varied thickness' for different compression ratios) for the MR2.
What made the headgasket blow? That issue has to be indentified to prevent it from happening again. Good Luck.

true on that .. btw thank you i found the hks the best i'll be ordering that soon my friend just deposit my last check so i'm stuck for now.
on the matrixs forum i mention i replace one by one till i find the actual cause of it...
1. oem radiator cap $18.00
2. low temp termostat $21.00 plus $2.00 rubber ring
3. new oem radiator $433.00
4. new oem water pump $67.00
5. went thru four gals of 50/50 coolant $40
6. due to my time i had to pay labor for some of the install which totaled me almost $500.00 notincluding the time i got stuck on the freeway and lost a day of work.

and little white smoke is still accuring compression is 100psi which i read should be 150-180

its just making me sick not enjoying her i thought i had a good deal just wish i knew it had a over heat problem but i only found out it was bad when it was delivered which i was ashame to back out of the deal.

hate it ever since the mr2 was delivered to my house i haven't enjoyed her yet.

After getting her back from a fresh semi overhaul and tested I was a proud MR2 owner again.
Detailed her that night made sure everything is running right and bleed the cooling systerm myself again to make sure no air.
6am yes hard to believe I woke up that early went to the garage wipe my baby once again and got ready for my first flight on the MR2 turbo.
Took some pics before my flight to work (notice the time on each pics lower right)

I got on to 805North car was running fine not boosting at all watching my gauge.
Exit to 15North, once I got to passing the first sign of MiraMar exit I heard a loud pop!
While I was pulling over looked at the rear window and steam.
A white truck pulled over in front of me and was shouting for me to get out of the car and the same time was trying to opening my door which was lock lol.
Walked out steam reach maybe seven feet high and maybe thats why we thought the car engine was on fire.

engine is open just waiting for parts to be purchased...found out i ran out of funds just owning an mr2.
redoing the head gasket with high end material
basicly all the cooling system now has brand new oem parts so hopefully this will do the job
I don't boost or abuse my toys so this will do.
while the engine is apart I will go ahead and replace the timing belt.
