it's very similar to the way you would remove the water pump from a Gen 2. You can use the BGB in the sticky.

You can post them in the introdution section or just start a new thread.
You need to support the engine from underneath and remove the passenger side motor mount for easier access. Remove the crank shaft pulley, front cover and the water pump pulley. Check your timing belt for wear while you're in there. Change interval is about 75K miles. But good to change while you have it apart.

lol ok.. i have it apart now.. finally! geez the i/c was such a bitch to get out.. i took your advice and brought a new timing belt to change while im at it, but i couldnt get my hands on the whole kit so its just the timing belt.. does it matter if i just change the timing belt alone without the kit?

I re used my front cover gasket. If it's in good condition, you should be OK.
here's another link with some good info on the whole timing belt thing. it'll show you how to re align the cam gears with the crank pulley. So, are u having fun yet? lol

It's easier and more roomy if you unbolt the A/C compressor without disconnecting the freon lines, and just move it over to the side as far as you can. I used a bungee cord to help hold it out of the way.
Also, when reinstalling the #1 idler pulley, make sure the washer is mounted behind the pulley bracket or the belt will not be aligned correctly and it will "walk" inwards and be chewed up in no time.

as far as the IC fan, it is initialized by the sensor that is mounted to the underside of the engine lid. The fan will only come on underload when boosting. So you will prolly never see it come on. if you want to test it or let it run continuosly, then disconnect the sensor I refered to.
