To all the MR2 owners out there, I need some help, I am planning to dump a 3sgte in a 96 Corolla, but I need to know some stuff before i start to proceed like,
How much for the Engine, Tranny, Computer??
How big of a swap would it be ( How much is everything going to cost me?)
and where can I get the swap done??
thanks for your help
Do a search on the forum for Yoshio at Japanese auto. He has done 3S-GTE swaps before. Not sure if he has ever done it to a Corolla though, but he knows his stuff.

yoshio did a 3sge (no turbo) and full 4wd drive train lay out in to a 4dr ae92 to enter in the canadian rallies. i don't think there was too much change in the chassis of the 96 corolla.
give him a shout.

Hey i am considering doing a similar conversion to my AW11 MR2, well possibly to the SC chassis.
Where in the world are you based? will be good to hear how it all goes and what kinda costs you will be encountering...
i can get a 3SGTE from an SW20 turbo and also the gearbox for only NZD$1,000 which is approx. US$500 not bad huh....
Adrian
it may be very difficult to shoe-horn in the 3sgte and get all the necessary piping, hosing and wires to fit into the mk1 engine bay, not only that, but i am sure you are going to have to transplant some sort of brake system etc to the rear as well, as i THINK you will need the drive shafts from the mk2 mr2 as those will fit into the tranny, however they may be a tad long lengthwise to fit into the mk1 chassis.
that is an amazing price for the entire kit being the engine/tranny.
