REMOVE: Plastic cover on each side of the wheel.

UNDO: Two torque screws on each side (under the plastic covers). This requires a special socket or screwdriver.

GENTLY pull out air bag.

UNCLIP air bag

UNDO big bolt in center of wheel.

Pull like hell and hope you do not hit yourself in the nose when the wheel lets go

actually there isn't an airbag. The 91 doesn't come equipped with one. I found another site on the net that says pull off the center pad. My main concern is that if i do, I may damage it?

I have owned five 1991 MR2s and they have all had airbags.
Standard equipment in the U.S. ... maybe Canada had something different.

i guess us Canadians like to live dangerously...lol...I'm pretty sure I can snap off the center piece but I'm just concerned about breaking any clips (if that's what's holding it on)...

I did mine in my Celica, exactly the same method and wheel for that matter. Just try to do it on a warmish day or use a hairdryer to heat up the general area first, warm plastic is more flexible and less likely to snap. As for pulling the wheel off once the bolt is removed, try hammering the back of the wheel with your fists and then yanking.
