2nd Generation Not Starting Issue

I have a 91 mr2 n/a...I have no clue what the cause of the problem is, im hoping that someone can help me. It only happens in the rain, when i come to a light or something the car will stall, and ill have to sit there for like 5 mins and keep trying to start it, and then finally it will start, and it will be flooded also. I know its something to do with the rain, cuz it only happens when its raining, or wet. If it just rained and theres water on the ground and i hop on the highway, the car will stall out... Any ideas........?

Next time this happens remove the ignition wire from the distributor and hold near a ground point on the chassis. Then crank engine and check for spark. If no spark start out checking the coil.

If spark, could be the IAC valve.

In addition to what toyomoho suggested, check the inside of your distibutor and the spark plug wells for water .
And Welcome to TN...

Because before, i actually thought it was water getting into the airbox or suttin. So i actually blocked off the vents on the top, but it still happens. And like i said before, about jumping on the highway when its wet, itd seem as though its water getting kicked up or something, because when i got off the highway, the car was fine.... but i'll def check the distributor and the other suff like u guys said, i aprreciate the help. Thanks for the welcome. And mr2bad, what kinda bodykit is that on your car?

I've seen headers on Ebay, though i can't vouche for the quality. After that, you can get custom pipe and muffler(s) easily. Check Greddy and HKS.

the difference of the turbo and NA is at the Bpipe. You would need to have a custom one made in order to use a turbo exhaust. So no, dont expect to buy an aftermarket system for the turbo engine (3sgte) and have it fit on your NA (5sfe).

KOracing actually makes a kit for the 5sfe and they have a nice little writeup on it
http://www.koracing.net/viewproduct....=3&product=325

I believe greddy and borla also have kits
