What to look for when buying a MR2

Hey everyone, im going to be checking out a 91 MR2 tomorrow, and i wanted to know what should i look for besides the condition of the exterior/interior/AC/rust/straight frame etc

Maybe some common problems with MR2's that i dont know about?

Last time i test drove a 91 MR2 M/T the steering wheel was hard to turn when the car was parked, is it supposed to be like that?

Any tips would be great! Thanks.

things you should watch out for...
strange noise when accelerating hard, strange turbo sound...like a siren, oil leak, syncro, .....

The best to do if you are still interested in the car, bring it to Toyota and have it inspected there. They should give your a report on the car for about USD$100.

Yes, its hard to steer because there is no power steering.

PS isnt standard, its an option, like LSD was in 93, i got mine from the previous owner, he got full options except for PS and LSD.... i grew to prefer no power steering, but I'm going to need a LSD

take the car to a mechanic that u trust..n have them perform a compression and leak down test...that will determine the health of the motor.....look for any visible signs on oil leaks in the engine bay.....check the car for signs of a recent paint job (ie..overspray underneath the car)..run a carfax so u can get a history of previous ownership.....

power steering was never an option up here in Canada.

Get a full mechanical done. There aren't any really wierd problems MR2's run into. Although I'd check to ensure Check engine light is intact and working and no codes come up. I've seen a few recently that the light was pulled to hide problems.
