CT 20 B MR2 please help!!!

Hi I have a question regardind CT20B turbo. I have MR2 1993 Turbo and I'm ordering JDM engine 93 turbo and would like to put CT 20B to it.

Is CT 20B Turbo work ok with a stock engine? Does it directly bolts in like CT 26 or CT 27?

Is there any modifications I must do to make CT 20B work properly with my stock engine?

What is the save boost on CT 20B with stock engine?

What is the difference between ct26 ct27 and ct20B?

Thank You for all helpfull answers.

CT20B is exactly the same as a CT26. The only difference is the that exhaust flange has one more stud. Most people just remove the stud and run without it.

As for differences..... really nothing.... they are all really just CT26's.

USDM CT26 - Steel compressor wheel. Meh spool. Dies off at 5,500rpms.
JDM CT26 - Ceramic compressor wheel. Better spool. Dies off at 5,500rpms.
JDM "CT20B" - Ceramic compressor wheel. Best spool. Spools to redline. Hard or impossible to find someone to rebuild one in the US.
ATS "CT27" - Steel compressor wheel. Decent spool (depending on wheel size). Spools to redline. Way to expensive for a rebuilt turbo.

Just an FYI.... Chico Race Works has recently come out with a "CTD06".... which is a CT20B housing (read: looks bone stock) but has internals of a TD06. Some people with TD06's are in the 400whp club.... so this could be a nice option for people worried about smog nazis.

Some good info there Russ. I'm really intersted in the CTD06. I went to the Chico RW's site but didn't see any info on it there. I did send them a email requesting some tho. What turbo are you running now?

As for my car.... I'm running a 3rd gen top mount HKS GT Turbo kit.

We'll see how this turbo is.... think it might be a bit small for me. If it is I'll keep my manifold and throw on a GT35R. Definitely going to keep this for a while to warm up to the whole.... 400whp thing though. Jumping strait to the 600's didn't seem like a very good plan

Thanks for the links.
I agree. Jumping to 600 hp is quite a leap. I think a more gradual increase is wiser.
It'll be interesting to see how your set up turns out

I emailed Chico Race Works and got a very quick response. heres what I got:

cost for the turbo should be about $975 and shipping around $40 each. when we finally introduce the turbo there will be a group buy with a discounted price and shipping included... would estimate that cost to be around $925-$950 each

there is no core charge since the turbo is a brand new unit

HP#s we estimate to be in the 350-400whp range with the right supporting mods. once we have the test group going we will have many dyno sheets available for differently modified set ups which will show the gains or losses when compared to other turbos.

some good info, will the CTD06 bolt right on and use stock lines? or will we need a "kit" to get everything to work. This would be a better option than the spud, since it with a kit is 2k.

The links Piddy posted explain everything. And there are pictures too.
It's a direct bolt on. Both stock oil and water lines are used for the set up. The turbo comes with the actuator and utilizes an internal wastegate exactly like the CT26 and CT20b. There is also a test program they will initiate when they are ready. If you participate, you will get a discount , but you must also get a dyno done and send the results to them.

i suscrbed to that other forum, would opt in as a tester, but i just dont have any money atm lol. maybe when the group buy comes around i will. otherwise even the kit, with injectors and whatnot would not be a bad deal. since id have to replace them anyway
