'86 MR2 for $3000

I'm looking at an 86 MR2 for sale for 3 large. It has 230km on it, 5 speed. Sound like a decent price?
Red, with a lot of rust on the front and rear quarters. Basically stock with a an aftermarket exhaust. Runs good, everything seems to work.
Thoughts? I've given up my dream of an import MR2(for now), and I need a project for the summer.

is that $3000 US dollars? oh wait maybe Candain?

Either way the dollar is close enough to CAN.

I say that if you were to buy a MR2 like that for $3000 you would be making the stupidest purchase as far as a car goes.

That MR2 is worth $1000-$1200 tops. No more. $3000 is waaaayyyy overpriced, Ask him to go lower or loook elsewhere.

Yeah, cheers. He made it look nice in the pictures, but I drove it today and it is a piece of junk. The check engine light was on, and it came out of gear in 5th. Stalled it about 4 times because of some weird idling issues, and then took major cranking to get re-started. FUBAR. I thought it would be much nicer. The guy was a total greaseball too. Maybe I will save my pennies and buy an import?

Thanks for the opinion.
