Spark plugs tell all ...

Just pulled the plugs in my 2 for the first time. Thanks to all the great help I received from this forum last fall, before purchasing and after. I am pretty pleased with the decision I made
Oh right the plugs, looking pretty good for a car with 160k miles on it eh!
I just replaced them with the NGK iridium IX's and added new wires, cap and rotor. Will be doing fuel and air filter, rad flush and new brake, engine and tranny fluid next. Would like to see a thread just for spark plugs so feel free to add any shots of your own! Great tell all for any engine probs. Cheers

Thanks Engineer, actually I keep looking for things to do to the car. It has been running so well since I got it lol. Geez maybe I better touch wood while I say that, but yeah it has been great. My overall plan is to upgrade the suspension, brakes etc so whenever the the 5s is finished the switchover will be an easy choice. Was lady owed previously also, which sometimes helps.
Cheers mate, good to hear from you, and thanks for your helping ways

P/s I've put over 5,000 miles on these plugs to. Don't know how long they were on the car previous to that but I can tell you the tires were 5 years old that were on it. Crazy eh ~

yeah, those plugs look pretty clean. Thats a good sign Robin. Did you use anti sieze on the plug threads when you installed them?

Hi Russel, I didn't use anti seize on the new plugs no. I just installed them right out of the package. If that might be a problem I better get some and put it on them. It has been so long since I've done my own mechanical I am after forgetting all the little things, I was gonna put some engine oil on the threads but didn't do that either . Hand tightened then gave them all a half turn, which felt about right. I'll pick up some anti seize.
So hows it cooking down there The snow has finally left here and it is great to be out in the 2 again. Had a fun first good cruise in a while on the weekend. Didn't I get hauled over by the cops in the middle of nowhere. Guy was ok though and let me go without a ticket, phew cuz I was really over to!
Keep dishing out the help bro, I really appreciate it, Cheers ~

Wow! what a beautiful picture! That would make a great ad pic for the MR2..Looks like you have some photo talent there Robin!
The 2 is lookin' good too...
I do recommend using anti sieze for all threads where there is alot of heat. Especially for the longlife spark plugs like iridium and platnum which stay in there for so long. Also on all exhaust applications or where bolts/nuts are exposed to alot of heat and prone to rust.
Just put alittle on the spark plug thread away from the tips and making sure that none gets into the cylinders.
