Converted to MR2's

Well, after years of German cars, I have finally converted to a Toyota.

My fun car was always my Porsche 944. After years of paying high repair bills (never left the shop for under $500) and just driving it for all it was worth, I finally spun the #2 bearing (a common issue) and sold the car. As a replacement, I found an 88 Mr2 with the cleanest silvertop swap I've seen. It's an incredibly fun car with the Eibach suspension and the power it has! Well balanced and well-mannered all around!

The only thing I'm getting used to is the lack of torque.
The 944 just had that low end grunt and I also had a modified Jetta Diesel that pushed 135Hp and 274 Ft.Lbs at the wheels. With that, it's just hard getting used to having to revv up the car to have power, but I'm getting there. For the quality of this swap and the fun I have in corners, it's a blast to drive!

IT took a while to find, but I'm glad I waited!

Welcome.
I saw your pics posted in the Pics section. Thats a beautiful car. I can't believe what great condition it appears to be in.
Yeah, the Porsche 944 is a great car, but expensive to maintain.
If you want more power and torque, swap in a 3sgte engine fron the second gens. You will end up with and awsome racer with a great power to wieght ratio.

very clean car. I love the MKI's when they are like that with no/minimal rust. The MKI's are one of the best autox cars around with an amazing power to weight ratio even with swaps. enjoy and welcome to the toyota obsession.

You just wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a rwd car that's so much fun! It really limited my choices. The MR2 is a great choice since my brother is a Toy-tech at the dealer right by my house though!

IT was really my friend's 2002 Spyder with the Haas turbo kit that sold me on how fun these cars really are.

I am familiar with your experience ... I took the cure (went jap) in 1979 ... yes, there are compromises, but for me, easier to handle than the compromises I was making before ...

shame on me, I have had 10 Mk1's, 7 new and 3 currently, and 1 Mk2 new ... guess which I like ...

yours is absolutely beautiful and a nice swap combination ... enjoy it and all the revs it has ...

regards ... Ken
