Sneak Peak...

I decided I'd leak a little bit of info about my car to the public. Basically what happened is I parted out my old MR2 to built a new one.... and got a bit carried away.

We started here:

Currently it looks about like this:

Everything is pretty much done. We plan on being on the dyno by next week.... I'd say probably about a month before all of the little quirks are worked out with registration and whatnot.

Here is the semi-official mod list:

Body:

- '91 Toyota MR2 Hardtop

- Custom Ferrari Red

- Black engine bay, trunk, frunk and visible underbody.

- '94 Front Lip

- '94 Rear Wing

- '94 Tail Lights (USDM)

- '98 Clear Corners (JDM)

- '98 Front Side Markers (JDM)

- Color matched mirrors and side moldings

- Custom vented trunk lid

- Shaved antenna

- GRT Flat Bottom Underbody Panels

Interior:

- Sparco Torino Seats with Wedge Engineering Brackets

- Harness Bar (TBD)

- Harnesses (TBD)

- Defi DIN-Gauge Unit (Oil Pressure, Oil Temp, Water Temp)

- Omori 45mm Boost Gauge (stock mounted in cluster)

- Innovative Wideband Gauge

- Apex-I PowerFC Commander

- JDM 180kph Gauge Cluster

- OEM Nardi Steering Wheel

- TRD Short Shift Kit

- '98 Shift Knob (or as Allen calls it…. an overpriced regular shiftknob)

- Fully insulated with dynamat

Suspension/Wheels/Tires/Brakes:

- Cusco Zero-2R Coilovers with custom Swift Springs

- Tanabe Front and Rear Sway Bars

- Tanabe Front Under Brace

- Cusco Front and Rear Strut Tower Bars

- Enkei Racing S (17x8+27 / 17x7.5+33)

- Toyo Proxies T1R - 255/40/17 (Rear)

- Falken Azenis 615 - 215/40/17 (Front)

- Rotora BBK (Front) (TBD)

- WolfKatz Engineering BBK (Rear) (TBD)

Engine and whatnot:

- Custom Built Hybrid 3rd Gen Block/Head (Over $10k worth of internals alone)

- Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump

- Sard Racing Fuel Pressure Regulator

- Sard Racing Fuel Rail

- Sard Racing 850cc Injectors

- Jun Intake Manifold

- HKS 3rd Gen Top Mount Exhaust Manifold

- HKS GT Series Ball Bearing Turbo

- HKS External Wastegate

- Sard Racing Blow Off Valve

- Custom 3" Downpipe

- Berk Technologies V2 - 3" Exhaust

- HKS 264 Cams

- HKS Adjustable Cam Gears

- 24x12x4 Custom Trunk Mounted Intercooler

- Custom Intercooler Piping

- Custom Intake

- Custom Side Mounted Oil Cooler

- AEM Water/Meth Injection Kit

- Apex-I PowerFC Engine Management System

- '97 E153 Tranny

- Chico Race Works Heavy Duty Axles

- OS Giken Twin Plate Clutch

That's just about all I can think of off the top of my head…. That doesn't include the random little crap we've bought from Toyota. For example…. 90% of my interior is brand new in Toyota bags…. waiting to be put in. Woot. Keep me away from a calculator and I should be jusssst fine. This thing needs to be done already.

nice setup just one question... why dynamat? its crap, nothing more than peel and seal tar. the extreme is ...ok... as its butyl but about twice as expensive as it should be. Damplifier ftw :p http://www.secondskinaudio.com/vibra...damplifier.php

Too much. We plan on hitting somewhere between 400-450whp on pump gas. Might touch 5's on race gas. I went with a smaller turbo than we were originally planning on. Really all I need is a GT35, new downpipe and some changes to the fuel system and I can play in the 600 range.

Hahaha... yea. Trunk lid is still at the shop getting done. I'll get some pictures of it when it comes back from the fab shop.

You should have cut the turbo trunk lid into it, not n/a. I'd have customed out the hood and bumper if I was gonna do it like that...

I'd extend the turbo hood louvers to the back edge of the hood and then continue on the front edge of the trunk to your stopping point. It'd be pretty cool and look more natural...and dont just let the louvers end, cut a turbo hood and use where it slopes back down to flat...if that makes any sense. It's hard to explain...

That was the original plan.... but the turbo engine lid isn't metal. We ruined a perfectly good turbo lid in finding out it wouldn't work. Plus the trunk lid still needs the support from below.... so you can't just chop the entire center out without compromising either the durability or the airflow.

The NA lid is metal... provides enough airflow.... and still keeps the structural rigidity of the trunk lid. The vents line up directly with the vents on the turbo engine lid.... and the rear spoiler covers 90% of them from most angles.
