Question Power Steering install??

hey,, I've got a 1990 MR2 3S-GE (non-turbo)

this car has no power steering i was wondering if this could be installed because i know some 91 models have it.

Will it be hard to do and will it be expensive???

thankz

Sure, it can be done. There sholud be places for the components to bolt up already in place as it is an option for the second gens. As for price, don't know - you will either have to get the parts used from a salvage yard , some one who's parting out or of course, the stealership.
As for istallation, shouldn't be that difficult. I guess it depends on your mechanical skills and experience.

If you were in the US, I'd trade you my power steering rack for your manual rack.

I personally think the MR2 is better without power steering.

For daily street driving, power steering makes life much more comfortable, especially for parallel parking.

But for track and spirited driving, manual is the way to go. You get a much better feeling of the road at the steering wheel, and don't get that annoying sloshy feeling when going hard into corners, often attributed to the fluid in the power steering box.

Some people would disagree with me and say they don't feel a difference, but that's just my opionion.

some mr2s also have a tendancy to cut out power steering so it only works like half the time but i have power steering with the pump disconnected (previous owner and i havent had the time or money to fix) it will drive fine until you go to park then its kinda hard to turn. really an mr2 does not need power steering as it is such a small car but sometimes it is nice. think it out before you start and i have bought a full rack for around $120 remanufactured after i turned in the core (like 240 without) its a stock ratio and bolted perfectly in. i bought it from a place called bapgeon but idn about australia cause im in the US. cheap reliable racks are out there but their kinda hard to find. just keep lookin
