Question 4AGE MR2 owners: Good DD or go honda?

Hello all,

My 7M Supra has failed me for the last time, and I'm ripping out the weak link and replacing it with a 2JZ. While the Supra is down, I'm going to need another DD besides my new taco work truck, and I was looking into a 4AGE 5spd MR2. I was wondering if you all could tell me what problems are common with these cars. I figure as long as it isin't the HG like on the 7M's then I would be solid with a 4AGE. I really wanna stick with Toyota, but am not afraid to go over to the dark side for a DD. Any advice/opinions are greatly appreciated. I would search, but since I know next to nothing about the motor specifically, I don't know what to search for. Thanks.

Shawn

last year i had an 89 civic for a DD. On the first day the t-belt went and blew the motor. Put a new motor and body went to hell within a year. Since November got an 85 n/a mr2 as a daily and it has been perfect. Runs amazing and no issues at all.

Find one with a clean body, make sure the tranny shifts well and no odd noises or leaks from the motor and you should be fine for a long time. They are great as daily drivers. Mine is stock so it's fun to drive everyday with no loud muffler or rock solid suspension.

i got the civic for free from my dad. We knew the belt needed to be done, the plan was to drive it for the winter and junk it. Soon other parts went......steering rack, rad, wheel bearing..... it was a piece of junk for sure.

If the t-belt went on the mr2, it would just need a belt....no engine damage. Honda's are way overrated.

FF cars suck, they were built for chicks.
