3SGTE DUAL VVT-i CONVERSION

I just bought a 92' MR2 Turbo around a month ago so i'm a little new at toyotas but I noticed that the 3SGE "BEAMS" has dual VVT-i now since the 3SGTE and the 3SGE are part of the same engine family can the dual VVT-i system be transplanted onto a 3SGTE head?

If it is possible it opens the door to some serious power potential, i mean a turbocharged motor with adjustable valve timing on both intake and exhaust to an already potent piece of machinery WOW!

If anybody has heard of this conversion or have done it your incite would be greatly appreciated and criticism is welcome (i wont get butt hurt haha)

People have hit over 800whp without it.... why bother?

If you insist... you would have better luck putting a turbo onto a BEAMS engine.... less complicated.

The BEAMS compression ratio is roughly 10.5 to 1

Good luck turbo charging that!

I must agree with Piddy. To me, it's really not worth the trouble and/or headache just to say you did it. Equal power can be had for much cheaper/easier.

But hey, go for it, you wacky dreamer!

Yes that is a completely valid point. But I was thinking about it like this by having VVT-i on both the intake and exhaust cams you would have the ultimate street engine. For example if you have a radical or even a semiradical cam on a turbo charged engine it has great high end horsepower but insuffucient torque off the line and mid range because essentially when you have a radical cam you have lots of overlap and in a turbo charged engine at low RPM the intake charge is blown out through the cylinder, filling up the exhaust tract but when you have the ability to control valve timing you can essentially can control overlap, small amount of overlap at low rpm and alot of overlap at high rpm so in turn you would have the best of both worlds: excellent low and mid range torque and awesome high rpm horsepower
