Ignition HELP

ok... motor is in... i pretty much had to build this thing inside the car.

so this is where i'm at... everything is in... plugged in, bolted down. i turn the key and the car starts.... few seconds later... a screeching sound (yea i kno) and the engine stalls. you can hear the starter trying to crank the engine over again... without turning the key.

i pull the starter... ground it out cause it ground thru the case... do it again and you can see the starter staying on... which is stalling the engine.

i traced it back to my ignition switch... and friend been saying they heard this to be common w/ late model toyotas... bad switches... what i need to know... is it the ignition switch (electrical) or ignition cylinder (mechanical) that goes bad...?

i'm assuming its the electrical part cause thats what happens w/ Audi's... but i figured i'd try to get some kind of confirmation from the community

its possible the switch is bad but unlikely. Did you swap an engine or do any wiring? Also if you have a bad starter relay it may cause the starter to constantly engage. try turning the key to the "on' position and leaving it there, dont crank it and see what it does.
