Im possibly looking at buying this M2R. What should I watch for ?
Any known problems ?
Here are the details of the car.
1985 MR2, Four cylinder five speed standard. 37 mpg. New brakes, tires, battery, clutch. Original paint. No rust. Stored in winter.
Certified. 130,264 km. $4,800
up here it's very hard to find them in that shape and milage. The price is actually very fair for what it is from what i see so far. I'd have to see it in person to be 100% sure.

CND mk1 sales......4,000-4,500
US mk1 sales.......100,000
Understood. And it boils down to what it's worth to the buyer. But if you tried to borrow the money from the bank for the purchase, they will only lend blubook value(in USA). I don't know the Canadian market at all.
It would be hard to find one in that good condition anywhere!
What do you mean by US MK1 sales..... 100,000 ?

here it's the same when trying to get a bank loan on an older car. It never a good idea to get a long for an older car, i like to always pay cash and get the purchase out of the way 1 shot.
The 100,000 US mk1 sales means that there is much more supply in the US and as a result they will be cheaper to get. Here with much less cars sold, the good ones will cost much more.
I see. But I think all gens of the MR2 had limited production and importation. The 2nd gens only had about 20,000 total imported to the USA for thier entire '91-95 run. So 100,000 MK1's in the USA?

from the 163,000 mki's made, 100,000 made their way to the US. Not sure how many were sc maybe 10,000 total. In Canada, we had under 600 total of 88-89 sc cars.
Mk2 sales were real poor here. 80% of the mk2 cars here are 91, a few 92's and a few 93's. No 94-95 were sold by Toyota in Canada.
