The place I dyno at (as well as a few other performance tuners I've talked to in the US) have highly recommended upgrading the cams in my 5S-FE. It is like instant power increase right out of the box. One option is the MR2 cams. There was an MR2 page that sold the cams and claimed a 25% HP increase. Now I doubt you will get THAT much but I don't doubt that it is a substantial increase... afterall 25% is only about 24fwhp for a stock 5S-FE motor! lol

Sorry I don't have the link. But I, myself have been looking for it for a while.

Humphrey, that's exactly the site! Thank you! I did not know that they went out of business though! Wow!

As far as upgrading internals, it is a good idea to beef up the bottom end of the engine for custom turbo applications for sure. There is some guy on the MR2 forum that got his 5S-FE to pump out something insane like 460rwhp! No doubt it cost a lot of money, but who's gonna mess with him now???

where's this guy name etc..??? im so interested in that.. although my power demands are much lower i just need to hit the adrenalin rush of 300+ and im good... but 400 would really make it better... i need to know process and etc... im desparate here im goin to get some cash soon and some of my parts havent shown up yet so im planning ahead as to what else i would be needing.. i already got the forged pistons... and exhaust manifold is being flowed for efficiency the metal head gasket and stud bolts from 3sgte as well are already in my possession.. also in my possession is the S/C of an MK1 i was thinkin of twincharging but i was talked out of it by CAMRYRR he had a good point... so i just decided to probably leave the charger out of it and put the s/c in my brother's 92 camry hehehee not sure but i htink it would be a minor mod since i just need a tranny cooler and fuel control unit , vpc and other fuel accessories...

im not sure about MR2PP.com going out of business but someone in this forum told me b4... i was asking about them and checkin them out to see if anyone dealt with them and wat kind of business they ran .. then someone told me they sucked and went belly up.. but im not so sure .. although no email has been answered their website is still operational... so im not totally sure about anything... best thing is call them up if u'd like... please help im lookin for the MR2 owner that anish is talking about .. a turbo 5sfe with a lot of power please email me up if u're outthere... or if anyone knows him.. email me im desparate!!! email @ blades@cyberdude.com or hty500@shaw.ca thnx...

Humphery, here's the URL of the guy explaining what he did for his 467rwhp: http://board.mr2faq.comshowthread.php/?threadid=35598

The url might be dead since it is pretty old, but as you can see the forum is at http://www.mr2faq.com

Good luck man. I'd love to see the same results in a Camry if it is possible.

The MR2 has the turbo and non-turbo cams. We cannot use the turbo cams in our 5S-FE engines, so as far as I know, there is only 1 type of cam that we can swap.

As for me, I'm not going to be doing that swap since if I invest any money into the engine, it will be a whole 3S-GTE swap with tranny. But if I had a relatively low mileage 5S-FE and was planning on upgrading the engine, I would definetly get upgraded cams (from MR2 or not). But I did not research any further since I did not plan on doing it myself.

Web Cam is the only company I know of that has cams for the 5sfe. They have two grinds for that engine, a street grind called "294" grind and another that's too wild for street use. I put the "294" grind cams in my '91 MR2 n/a and can say it's well worth the $600 cost. I didn't dyno the car before I put the cams, HotShot headers and HK$ free flow air intake but would guess I was putting out 95-100 hp at the wheels; after the mods I dyno'd 120 hp and 125 ft/lbs torque at the wheels. The whole personality of the car changed -from a slug to a drivable, flexible sports car that, while it doesn't scream, does quite well. Web Cam can be reached at (909)369 5144. To date, they're the only company I've delt with by mail that has done what they said they'd do when they said they'd do it -very professional and competent.

Does WebCam do cam regrinds, or is a whole new set of cams that they send you? I'm gonna contact them later this week, but I wanted some background info while I'm waiting.
