This question was probably answered already, but I'll ask anyways, if I don't wanna go turbo, and just keep a N/A motor, and put the
"3S-GE DOHC 4 1998 158@6600 137@4800 9.2:1 ST182 ST183 SW20"
"3S-GE DOHC 4 1998 200@7000 152@6000 11.5:1 ST200 SW21 (VVT-i)"
anything that will needed to be upgraded? axles? hubs? etc?
(I own a 91' non turbo mr2)

if your going through all that trouble to swap, why not go turbo? and if you want to stay n/a, why not keep the 5s-fe? yeah its a econo head but your not going to see huge numbers with either of those motors either. i drove a hurtin' 91 n/a for two years before i swapped to turbo, it was plenty fun to drive, and "felt" quick enough, even more so than my 92 celica gt, which has same engine. its still faster than most honda's as well :p
EDIT: not sure on whats required to upgrade, but im sure if performace is in mind, your going to need new fuel pump and stuff like that. for the axles, it all depends on your tranny, if yours bolts on, then your fine, if not, will need ones that will as well as fit your wheel hubs.

Well im not really looking for any significant amount of power, just something that'll replace my blown 5s motor....-_-
+ I want something to be a wee bit more exotic
++ I found a 3sge motor that'll only be $900.00 and it comes with all of these:
Transmission
Engine Wiring Harness
All required Cables
ECU
Distributor
Complete Intake Manifold
Alternator
A/C
Power Steering Pump
All Brackets and Sensors

ah, blown 5s is the key word there, lol. thats what prompted my swap :p
just double check to make sure the axles fit into the tranny, if not then you will need new ones, the 5sfe has a long and a short piece, where as the turbo model has a middle connected to the tranny, and two smaller ones that go to the wheels, not sure what a 3sge uses, and check to see if you need a new fuel pump. uhh maybe a MAF sensor? and.... uhh, possible new exhaust. i know i needed to upgrade when i swapped. so that would be the headers/ehxuast manufold, b-pipe and muffler.

surprised noone else is posting, the 3sge is same as the Beams engine no?
anyway, Im sure its been done, and this is the place to ask, another great source of info is over at www.mr2oc.com you have to sign up before you can view or post, but its also a larger mr2 community with forums dedicated to this kinda stuff.
lol wasnt hard to find A thread about it, http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=300135 had some useful info about part numbers and interchangable stuff. im sure there are others as well if you use the search feature. found that one under mkII 90-99 then on common engine swaps sub forum.

the 2nd motor you referenced is the 198hp "BEAMS" 3sge. A much tougher engine to get your hands on than the previous generation 3sge.
This swap is rare (mainly because of the rarity of the engine), but has been done. You're better off getting an entire rear clip for this swap, since you're going from an NA to 3s. Look to spend anywhere from 3500 to 6000 for this clip.
Awesome swap if you can get it done, but good luck finding the parts and dishing out the cash for everything you need.
