Gen1 Fuel problems; not the pump

I have an 87 MR2 which I've been rebuilding the engine for a while now and just cant get it to fire. My fuel pump and filter are good... but i cant feel the injectors clickng or anything of that nature. Ive checked relays and all but still no luck. WHATS MY CARS PROBLEM?? jk any info would be appreciated.
PS What tells the EFI to signal the injectors? Thanks

Yeah i checked both of those before i posted. I try to keep the simple mistakes to a mininum (doesnt always happen but I try). For some reason i think the ecu isnt getting a signal on where the engine is at during rotation. Thats why i asked what tells the ecu where the engine is at so i can see if i missed putting on a sensor or something.

fuel pump kicks on when the AFM flapper door opens.... check to make sure the afm is connected and the tube is tight with no cracks b/w the TB and the afm. you can test this - turn the key to on and open the flapper door... you should hear the pump kick on... while you're at it, check for fuel leaks.

the signal from the ecu to the injectors is a negative signal.... the positive is constant and comes from the circuit opening relay (connected to your ignition switch and the AFM).

the engine uses the signal from the dizzy (which goes dizzy to ignitor to ecu to ignitor to coil through the dizzy cap) to tell where the engine is in relation to needing to fire the injectors.... if part of this system is missing, broken, or problematic you can have a problem with the injectors firing and/or timing... check to make sure you have spark and that your timing is on

If you have absolutely no kicking over of the engine (wanting to start... or barely starting then dieing off) then I would suspect the fuel pump isn't kicking on or there's a problem with the COR or afm..... the cold start injector is on a different circuit and should be providing at least enough fuel for the engine to attempt to start until the priming circuit stops

Well the AFM is new i just bought it for $210 and it doesnt kick or anything(unless i use starter fluid). when i turn the key on to run it sounds like the pump kicks on and when I Presseed the flap it stoped. In the injectors(wire) i hhave a consant 12 volts coming to it but no negitive. I used the pump to puimp out the old gas in it and it was spraying all over so Im pretty sure the pumps good and the filters not cloged (disconnected the fuel line to the cold start injector). But u menioned a COR: what is that? What really confuses me is that the car at least ran before.

COR.... circuit opening relay... it's found bolted to the side of the ecu.... ensure that the cor is plugged in and working.....

if the pump kicks on... then turns off when you open the flapper door, then there's a wiring issue....

make sure that the ground on the intake manifold is bolted down to a good solid ground... if not, the ecu isn't getting power and will not send the neg signals....

i'm not sure if the ecu electronics is grounded through the body of the ecu..... make sure that bunch of brown wires (grounds) on the intake are connected to a good ground

Thanks alot toyotaspeed90, that was the fuel problem dang wires. well on 2 the next one; now i have an ignition problem. now the car fires then dies and i have 2 codes. A no RPM signal, and Switch signal (codes 6 and 11). Im thinkin that the SW signal is from the AC when i removed th AC compressor during the engine rebuild. Now on to the real problem im losing spark after the first few seconds after it kicks. If i let the car sit for about 30 min or so it will start enough for me to get it started then keep my foot on the peddle to keep it running. But after it dies i test for spark and there is none.. Whats weird is that if I took the #1 plug out and arced it on the valve cover the engine tried to run. So is it a Ground issue? I just painted the head when i had it off. If the plugs aren't getting ground why would it run 30 min. later?
Thanks for all the help so far, please keep it up.

PS.. sorry it took so long to get back, i went on vaction. Im also asking this on a new thread this time.
