u can do the basic...exhaust, header n intake...but that wont feel all much faster either...alot of NA owners have done the 3SGTE swap to satisfy their need for more power......

you can dump a lot of money into the NA for small gains. To attain big power you really need to do a turbo.

3sge or 5sfe?

There are a few ways to do a turbo. 3sgte swap is pretty common and clips can be bought complete for the swap. Otherwise there are guys turboing the 5sfe. Try looking up Burien Toyota in Washington. 15psi 5sfte daily driver. They've done quite a few kits sucessfully. If it's a 3sge, I'm really not sure as I have zero experience with them.

all responses have been good (and valid) so far, but i guess the real question you need to answer first is: how much faster do you want to go?

you quoted 178 HP normally aspirated, so i think we also need to clarify which engine you have ... i didn't think the 3SGE's made that much stock, but if that's what you've got then your options just got a little better.

on the topic of making "them" go faster..... I'm new to the site...and to the mr-2.. I've owned mine for a little over a year.. anyway..... I'm in the process of doing the shunned "5sfte" build.... I will definately be here throughout the process to post info and ASK questions... but if I could go back and buy a turbo - manual.... well.... yeah, I would!
