2nd Generation Altezza 3S-GE to 91 sw20. Can it Be Done? Help!!

i Just bought a Altezza BEAMS 3sge off ebay for 3300.0. thought it would be a good investment. has an uncut wire harness, 6 speed trans, and all parts need to make it work. ie alt. intake and box...bla bla bla. can this be done. i know that if you go from a 5sfe to 3sgte you have to replace axles and susp. parts and what not. my reason for this peticular motor is im creating a one of MR2. so far i have.

the TRD2000gt
AMS digi dash
SAFC
DRIVESOFT LITE
iDENTISAFE-09 (Sexy as hell)
TOMS steering wheel and 4 points (thankyou ebay)
CF hood, engine cover and trunk with custom CF trunk ext. for the kit.
CF headlight conv.
Rotora Front Big Brake kit and lines
Fiske mach v wheels
Custom Spacer and Porsche lug nuts
corbeu CR1
and other misc goodies.

So i thought an Altezza powerplant would really set it off. exspecially a 6 speed sw20. PLEASE HELP!!!!

im not an mr2 guy, but i can tell you the altezza is an FR layout (longitudial mounted engine/tranny) and your sw20 is an MR using a transverse layout. so its not going to fit, if you did infact get the blacktop beams engne/tranny. the redtop beams however is designed for your car...

From what I've hear it can't be done as part of the motor hits the strut housing on the pass side. You'd need an MR2 turbo tranny also as that would get the motor facing the right direction. Most people that go for beams motos go for the MR2 one "the red top". More info here... http://mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=30...eams+black+top a few posts down someone discusses what you'd need. oil pan, tranny, intake manifold, ect.

As was stated, you'd probably have been better off with the red top beams with the e153 tranny. That would fit right into the MR2.

You might as well sell that 6 speed altezza tranny, as it is useless to you, being an FR layout tranny. Unless you want to put that motor in the front of your MR2. That would certainly make it 1 of a kind. Heh!

Anyways, you're gonna have to get the altezza ecu, and wire it to work in the MR2. The MR2 ecu won't work, since the black top beams is a dual vvt-i (intake and exhaust) and the red top (found in the MR2) only has vvt-i on the intake side.

I'm sure it can be done. Anything can be done with some time, money, and research. If you really want to put a beams in your MR2, the red top is a much easier route, and there's documentation to show it. A red top clip goes for between 4k and 6k, and that comes with pretty much everything you need. You're probably looking at spending more to get all the parts you need now, just for the 10 extra hp of the black top.

I wouldn't say it was a bad investment. It's just gonna take some work to make it happen in the MR2. If you do though, it will be pretty awesome.

Good luck to you and keep us updated.
