Okay I have posted on other sites, but no one can seem to find out what this problem is. Anyways I have a 93 mr2 turbo with a j spec gen 2 motor. A for some reason the car with start but it will well quickly bout 8 seconds... Start to die. When doing so the boost heads back up to zero and the rpms head back down towards zero. I thought it was my afm, so I tried another one and it does the same thing. I have found that when I take the afm off completely, the car will run and idle. I can drive it but doing so i will not boost past zero and does hesitate a little. So any help would be great. I can give more info if needed.
I Noticed The Same Thing Few Years Ago It Wanst A Mr2 But I Was A Ford Diesel Had The Same Problem Boost 0 Rpm 0 It Sometimes Wouldnt Die It Would'nt Move At All We Check The Afm We Check The Turbo If It Was Still Working Or If The Veins Were Working We Even Put A New Turbo In. In The End We Found Out One Of The Fuel Injectors Were Not Working It So You Should Check The Injectors An See If All Of Them Are Working
the way i check them was with a computer connected too the pcm the other way u wanna do it is dissconnect the injectors and blow in them or just change all of them.. because when i just change that one i had to change all of them because another went off but it did fix the problem after a new turbo an i forgot what other stuff
If you think it is a fuel problem then check fuel pressure first. Then use a light plugged into one of the injector connectors to see if it blinks while the motor is running. If you have fuel pressure and a blinking light then your problem most likely isn't fuel, unless the car has bad gas or very low octane. Might check for a vacuum leak off of your intake or check for spark.
I have checked for vacuum leaks, so the way to do it is blow through it?... or hook a light up to one of the wire and see if it light s or blinks? And check for fuel pressure how would i do that?
the air flow meter its always fucking up it wont be that at all try the egr valve if im correct fuck was it that one the other car had problems with. 3 things it could be wrong injectors, leak in some hoses or ur egr
the afm tells the the fuel pumpm to also to turn on in these cars. take the inyalke tube off and open the flapper door to see if the fuel pump comes on. That could be your problem right there. Insufficent fuel to the fuel rail.
OKay, so take the vacuum hose off, the one running to the fuel pump I am guess, than turn the car on and move the flapper in the afm and see if it runs better?
The EGR will NOT cause this problem. Especially since he doesn't have one: "93 mr2 turbo with a j spec gen 2 motor". JDM motors don't have EGRs. That being said, an EGR can't cause this problem at all.
Is your Check Engine Light on? if so, pull the codes and post them.
If you have a multimeter, you can test the AFM very easily. If you don't have a multimeter, buy one from Radio Shack or Harbor Freight.
Okay updat time... So i decided since I was lost to take off all my turbo hoses and then install them with new clamps... Thought what the hell. Well the car will run now... Woot!!! But its running on like it was before it stopped. Here is what it is doing.... While idling, it sounds like it misses every once and while ( I replaced my plugs, wires, and etc.), It also smells a little rich. While driving it wants to boost as soon as you put your foot on the gas, but it sputters, hesitates, and will not accelerate. You try and shift through gears cause the rpms are climbing really high waiting to gain some speed so you shift. You while be in 4 gear doing 40. So I really don't know where to look again. Please help
