What Do You Get With A "new" Engine?

I am the girl having trouble with her 1992 MR2 non-turbo. A few months ago I bought a "new engine"........Toyota rebuilt/lifetime warranty.

What did I actually get? What parts come with them? It is not listed in my warranty papers.

I am also looking for an ignition relay (it goes in with your fuses). I am pretty sure that is the name. On the cover it says "ign". I saw on your sticky above a place to order parts. This is a wonderful site......so glad I found it. Am I calling this part by the correct name?

Thanks for being patient with a new person. I think we must all love MR2!!!

Most new engines are sold as a longblock or block and head combination. They are installed using all of your vehicle's accessories. New belts, hoses, etc should have been installed at the same time.

If you got the engine put in at a Toyota Dealer then you might call them up and complain, they might at least cover the tow bill and the diagnostic charge and tell you what is wrong with the car.

My engine is a Hesco.....it was a little more than $3000, and it came with a lifetime warranty. I bought it at a Napa Auto Parts, then paid a foreign auto shop to put it in.

I really think my problem is the irs....ignition relay switch. But I can't find one for a 1992, or I am asking for the wrong thing when I go in the auto parts store. Since the car is not running.....I can't show the people.

whats the problem w/ the car...? if its ignition related it most likely has nothing to do w/ the motor itself.

if you can read the part number off of the part... google it... should tell you what it is and where you can buy it.

and you most likely got a reman long block... this could be tricky on how complete. cause when i searched for a new motor for my car. some places had long blocks w/ cams, some w/o... some w/ cams and timing belt, some w/o...

You made a big mistake buying an engine from an auto parts chain. Napa/Autozone/Kragen really rip you in terms of price and the warranty is through the "manufacturer". When I was working at Kragen, I had a guy come in a bunch of times to give me crap about how I ripped him off on a motor because his warranty was through the manufacturer and not the store. Go to a dismantler if you still can.
