Is it worth the trouble? How much?

Hi everyone,

I have been eyeing an MKI, '87 I think, at a garage for about 2 years. It's been at least two years since it's moved. Today I drove by to take a closer look. They were closed, but I was able to get right up to it.

My question is this, without knowing anything about it except that it's been sitting, is it worth anything? If it was drivable when it was parked, would $500 be more than it's worth?

All I can tell from what I can see is that it's got a 5spd, no wing (doesn't look like it had one at all), needs paint and some body work. Looks totally original.

I was considering calling to get a closer look and find out what the story is, but I'm a little worried because it's been sitting. I want a project car, but it would be nice if my project was drivable.

I can't figure out how to post pics, or I would.

Thanks! Mike

1st off, Welcome to TN.
If it'll start and you can drive it, it would prolly be worth $500.00 as a project car. But need more info on the car. I don't know a whole lot about the 1st gens, but I would think any MR2 thats in running condition for a project car would be worth it for $500.00. Of course, the cheaper, the better.Just be prepared to fork out the bucks.
What are your plans for it?
Also there is a sticky on how to post pics. They have to be hosted somewhere-like photobucket or the like. Copy the URL from the host site and click on the " picture icon" , paste the URL there on your thread when you're ready to post it.

Thanks for the reply. I looks like I'll be sitting by, and watching it rot for a little longer though. My wife isn't keen on the idea. She'd rather I buy something that runs. Sheesh, can you imagine?
