Question 02 spyder - LOUD rattling noise

2002 mr2 spyder 5spd ~75k miles

so the issue is between 2000rpm and 2500rpm there is a LOUD rattling coming from the engine bay. it happens in all gears BUT only under half to full throttle.

i think this is because if light throttle is applied the engine vibrates differently when compared to under heavy throttle.

i am a die hard toyota guy and im well aware that toyota has a horrible issue with their heat sheilds getting rusted and rattling. BUT ive never delt with this particular car. (its my sisters)

Are there any common or not-so-common problems that arise and cause a rattling noise (its damn near raspy)?

Could be many things. I haven't had ANY issues with my '01 Spyder. If your not having any mechnical problems, then like you suggested, it just may be something that has vibrated loose.Just look around the engine bay for something loose.

Just get you a socket set and a ratchet and start tightening every bolt you can see, or if you have access to a dyno might see if it makes the noise on it, might be easier to pinpoint if you can stand my the motor when it's making the noise.

i guess i was looking too far into it, that sounds like the plan for the time being...

i can "kinda" make it rattle just reving it but i cant be sure if its the rattle i hear or the whine of the engine... because at that rpm the motor is really spinning and its kinda loud with you head right next to it... naaaamean?
