Sadly my MR2 died today

Ive only had my car for 3 weeks and today on the way home i heard a tap tap when i accelerated and even when i let off... It soon became louder and louder...not realizing (dont know wut i was thinking I knew better) I kept driving. I pulled over when it got so loud and when i opened the hood to the engine smoke poored out and my dash was lit up. I couldnt see ne thing to check the oil.. I took the dip stick out and couldnt get it back in since i couldnt see ne thing plus first time removing since i got the car. I continued home cause only a few miles and it died..the engine shut off and i was on the side of the road less than half a mile away ... But it did start again when I got my dad there and a friend stopped and said it smelled like oil and we moved the car forward and sure enough there was oil puddles where the engine had been sitting over... I got it towed to the macanics to see wut the damage is...lets hope not the whole motor but it starts.. I would say def the pistons since it was making the sound like it was them...no oil too them so prolly fried..ne ideas or comments...plz be gentle..Im hurting now... And i just put white 17's on it yest .

Sorry for this being so long but I needed to vent...

I'll be nice since you asked, but I can't believe you didn't check the oil for 3 weeks after purchase. That's one thing that should be done before a car is even driven. Was it a turbo car? I'm sure since the oil is coming out it's slung a rod and ruptured the side of the block, meaning a whole new engine. If you decide to sell it, let us know, I happen to have a turbo MR2 engine from a 91 that I wouldn't mind installing if the price is right.

I had a oil change right before i got it, i didnt buy it, it was given by my stepmom. There was plenty of oil still leaking out of the car after it overheated. How much for the engine, and I am in U.S, Maryland.

Alright well they finally looked at the engine and its cracked, so its deffenetly done. I have to put a 5sfe in there cause too much money for labor to put the 3sgte in there. But now i dont need to worry about the engine dying on me, thats why i wasnt gonna do ne engine mods, now i can . Only thing is hes having a hard time finding my engine with low milage. I hope he can find one.

usualy about once a week... or every time i fill up the gas*roughly a week*... my car doesnt *leak* persay.. more like *tears it out*..very.. very.. slowly.. lol very hard to tell unless you let it sit for a few days straight. On the other hand... she eats a bit of oil... usualy about 1 quart every 3000mi... when i drive soft and shift at or below 3000rpm... or when i drive her hard.. she'll eat a quart about once every 2 weeks or so.
