2nd Generation Power Steering/Charging Problem

Hello recently my alternator went bad and i replaced it when i did i started having problems with battery discharge light and power steering light coming on i disconnected the power steering connection by the power steering motor and both lights went out and im able to drive without power steering i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas before i take it to the mechanic and also i do have the right alternator

if your car is what your screen name implies and you indeed are talking about an 87 MR2. then you dont have power steering to begin with. no MK1 came with power steering.

Understood...Are you sure all the connections to the Alt. are correct ? Belt for Alt is tight? Have you checked the fluid for the P/S?

yea ive done the basics im guessing thrs wiring problem somewhere with power steering wasnt sure if anyone has heard of or had any similar problems

Actually, about 2 years ago, my P/S light came on. I checked the fluid , it was alittle low, I topped it off the light went off. The next day, it comes on again, I check the fluid again, it's fine. I couldn't find anything wrong,the steering feels fine, so I took the car to my Import specialist friend and he can't find anything wrong either. The next day, it went off and has not come back on since. Go figure.
