CT20 turbine

I'm rebuilding my CT26. I was wondering if the CT20 turbine wheel can be used in the CT26 ?

I may stand to be corrected here, but I believe the bore of the CT20b turbine housing is larger than that of the CT26, which may cause a problem with the turbine wheel being used in the CT26 housing.

Were you considering removing the turbine wheel from the shaft, or using the whole compressor/turbine shaft assembly inside the CT26 housings? I would not suggest using the turbine wheel alone without rebalancing etc., which would eventually cost more than acquiring a nice CT20b.

My opinion would say the best bet for a slightly more efficient turbo, with half the cost of the CT20b would be a Supra CT26 hybrid. The Supra hybrid is a decent/cheap upgrade. It is not quite as good as the CT20b, but about anything is better than the stock MR2 CT26.

Hope this helps!

It helps alot actually. I'm having my shaft balanced with a new stock compressor wheel, and thrust collars for this rebuild and re assembling the turbo myself. When shopping for a new compressor wheel I found that the Supra CT26 has a larger inducer but same size exducer. I don't know about the turbine wheel.
So is the Supra CT 26 a direct bolt up to the MR2 exhaust manifold? I've decided to keep my 2 close to stock as possible while getting as much HP out of it as I can.

Well, the Supra CT26 isnt exactly a "direct bolt-on" affair. The Supra has the single entry housing vs. the MR2 twin entry housing which makes that a scratch, but you can use the MR2 Turbine housing on the Supra turbo to make it a direct fit. You will have to re-clock the turbo, and make sure to line up the WG Actuator correctly; it can get hung up and hold the flapper door shut, which is never good! LOL

Well,I came across a new CT20 turbine and I'm reuilding My CT26 ,so I though while I have it apart, I might be able to use it and flow more exhaust. The rebuild is just to get me by until I finally decide which turbo I'm gonna go with.
I'm either gonna go CT27, GT28, or T3/T4. I would just rebuild a CT20 if I could find one at a decent price.. The used ones I've seen, the guys are asking $750.00+. I think thats too high for a used turbo I have to rebuild. ATS only wants $700.00 for their CT27..
