Wierd Trans Light

Ok now that i finally got my car to stay cool it on with the next. Ive gott an 87 NA auto (yea and I hate every second). The overdrive light blinks and its wayyy to constistent to be a loss wire, almost like a troble code. problem is it never stops at all. My overdrive works after the trans warms up but not when its cold. Any ideas on what my PCM it tring to tell me?

I know the 'OD' was for retrieving code on some models, but I am not sure about yours. Have you disconnect the battery to see if it will reset?

Does your tranny have a filter? Most auto trans do.If it does, it may be clogged. After it warms up, the filter may be clear enough to operate. Hence, it drives OK after a warm up. Just a thought.

Usually if it is a clogged filter it would actually get worse as more fluid is passing through the filter screen.

You can retrieve codes for the transmission by connecting TT and E1 in the diagnostic connector.
