Removing EGR, etc. for racing

I have this 1985 NA car that last ran in 1988 when it was a show room stock race car and had to be street legal. Now the car will be in Improved Touring and I can remove the EGR, and other emissions equipment. I removed everything and plugged all the vacuum lines but the car will stall the moment I short the test connector to set the timing. While I was looking at the overall EFI diagram I noticed something labeled ISC, which the book said stood for an Idle Speed Control. I think its vacuum lines hook up to the metal tee that comes out of the rubber hose between the AFM and the throttle body on one end and some how to one of the ports on the throttle body. There is NO information in the BGB about this device or where its vacuum lines go. Do I need this? If so, how do the vacuum lines hook up? Also, can I block off the big vacuum line that went to the A/C Idle Up control? Thanks.

Gen1 vacuum

Hey I had the same prob I just put a mini filter on the vacuum line that goes between the AFM and the throttle body then made a custom filter adapter for the whole set up.

remove anything you want in terms of vacuum... those vsv's won't throw a code and/or cause the engine to run poorly.... block off all vacuum ports you want blocked, and then adjust the idle based on the idle screw in the TB.

I dont' like the EGR setups in the aw11's so I removed ours (on the only bigport car we have).... there's no performance gain to removing them, however (FYI).
