question about turbo kits

ive decided to get a turbo kit for the mr2. what i wanted to know is, which one should i get? im not looking for high hp kits. the most i would want is a 300-350hp max setup, but im only planning on 300 at most. what i want is a turbo that spools quickly and produces power from idle(or close to idle) to 6500rpm. im guessing that can only be accomplished from a ball bearing unit. possibly even dual ball bearing. the only kind i know of are hks, but im sure theres more. i need an entire kit. i dont have to have a different manifold. if the kit comes with an adapter instead, that fine.i just want to make sure the kit comes with everything to bolt on and drive with. ive done alot of searching, but many dont say whether they are bb or not. also, what the best priced ones?. ive seen one kit for 2200 bucks, and the same kit for about 1750. thats a big difference in price. i dont want to ask a shop to get me one, cause they may get their kits from a place that charges more. and since i have just gotten into the world of mr2's, i dont have too much knowledge of different companies and websites. so do you guys think you have links of turbo kits that would best suit me? also, with the kit, if i ran the same amount of boost as stock, would i still have to do the dyno tuning? also, where can i find an aftermarket side mount intercooler? all i can find are the normal size front mount type intercoolers for them. and what about a liquid to air intercooler? would that be better in any way? cause ive found some 6" X 4" ones for about 350-400 bucks

ir ur a member of the main mr2 board..check out the sponsors' page..theres a few of them that make various turbo kits for our cars.....ur 300 rwhp goal is reachable...but keep in mind that u'll require alot of supporting mods (ie..fuel and engine management..upgraded IC...compentent tuner)...\

as for intercoolers...greddy and spearco both make IC upgrades for mr2s......

ok, but if i only make 275rwhp, i can use the stock fuel system and ecu? also, im not having problems finding turbo kits. im having problems finding the right one. i dont know which one i need. all these kits i see just talk about different trims and how good they are, but i wanna know which kit or which turbo is best suited for me. also, since ive been looking around alot, ive come across the same turbo kits on different sites for 200-450 bucks less or more, so if you know which type of kit i should get, if you know a place where it is pretty cheap, it would be a big help. also, i though all you really needed was a basic intercooler upgrade, meaning the old piping will fit on the new ic. but all i can really find is entire kits with piping and all for 1000 dollars or more

The type of Turbo kit you choose will depend on what you
use your car for/ driving style/habits.

Personally I'm about to order a kit witin the next 2 months.
I've decided to go with KOracing's street brawler kit.

http://www.koracing.net/products.html

Engine management, fuel system, and intercooling are all
good ideas for big power. It's taken me months to
reasearch what products to put on the 2.

Just my $.02, some times the cheapest source is not always a good idea. The customer service may suck, along with their
product support.

Check out the following fourm it's been a great resource.

i want quick spool with power from near idle to about 6500rpm. id like to get good suspension and try autox or occasional racing. but mostly i wanna be able to drive on curvy roads really fast. theres tons of old backroads out here with no cars. and im not looking for big power. according to the power primer, 275hp is feasible without engine management or upgrades to the fuel system. im looking for no more than 275hp, but i want a turbo that can put out 300-350hp max, just in case i decide to upgrade for more power later. i dont want to have to buy another turbo. so if theres a kit with a turbo that spools fast as hell and has a broad powerband, and makes about 300-350hp max, thats what im looking for. i believe that it will require a ball bearing unit to get this though, but i still dont know which turbo or turbo kit i need. thats what i want to know. when i find that out, i will worry about where to buy it. but my only experience is with the hks gt2535 turbo, so i figure you guys may know more about what i need

No, they are completely different turbos. I have no experience with any turbos other than the stock ct26, but heres what I can tell you from what I know:

You can customize the t3/t4 to you needs. Out of the t3/t4 trims, I would suggest a 46trim compressor, with a .48 A/R hot side, and a stage 3 wheel. That should provide good spool and enough flow for 300whp.

The TD05 kit was offered by HKS. I dont think they make them anymore, but you can still get your hands on one. From what I've heard, spool is excellent (better than stock) and it should take you close to 300whp.

If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

i think ive decided. im goin with the ko racing street brawler t3/t4 turbo kit with .46 trim. i talken to ken at ko and that turbo will be great for 275rwhp and less lag than stock. ive seen the dyno numbers. at the same rpm(forgot what rpm, but it was a very low rpm) stock made 160 lb ft of torque, but the s.b. kit made 200rwtq. also, im lookin at the spearco ic kit. mrq, with those 2 items and supporting mods, i should reach my goal, shouldnt i?
