Opinions on best MR2 Spyder Performance Exhaust

I'l looking for opinions on which cat back exhaust system to buy for my 2002 MR2 Spyder. I like the CHE Lotus Elise/Exige style catback exhaust made for the MR2 Spyder--it has two options a single can and double can muffler--but when I asked Monkeywrench Racing, the retailer, about contact information for the manufacturer so that I could ask questions they couldn't answer they said, "Sorry, he’s a very difficult man to track down." That didn't give me a lot of confidence. I'm looking for a Califronia smog legal (cat back, 97db)unit with a modest HP increase (3-8) and a nice deep throaty sound--no "fart" mufflers. Any recommendations on models and where to buy via the Internet would be greatly appreciated!

I had the dual exit exhaust from Team Moon out of Atlanta. Rust proof, direct fit and awsome deep ,low , rowdy tone. $400.00. I can't remember what shipping was. Not a whole lot.

Thanks Russell. I saw pictures of Team Moon's product as I was surfing around and wondered about it's performance and sound quality. The only thing that seemed a bit odd was the 90 degree intersection of the passenger side outlet just aft of the muffler. Would have expected more of a shallow angled "Y" departure for better flow characteristics but figured it was an issue of space constraints. BTW, your Liquid Silver 2001 MRS looks great! Same color as my 02.

Being a dual exit MagnaFlow , it's not an issue. Flows very well.
Thanks and You're Welcome

Sammy,

Ok, fair enough. Let me be more specific.

So far, the system that looks the most appealing to me from a design and price standpoint is the CHE Lotus Elise/Exige style catback exhaust made for the MR2 Spyder. It has twin exits at the center of the vehicle and two muffler options a single can and double can.

I'd like to know what the meaningful differences are between the one and two can models and point by point how this unit stacks up to the following criteria:

1. California smog legal (cat back, <96db)
2. High quality stainless 304 construction with mandrel bends
3. 100,000 mile life
4. Easy install -- no significant mods required and uses OE hangers
5. Modest HP increase (3-8)
6. Deep throaty sound--no "fart" mufflers

If the CHE isn't a good choice what would you recommend instred? Order of preference on exit design: twin exit both centered, twin exit both left, twin exit split left and right, single exit left

Bob

I have the Team Moon. I love the sound deep & throaty. I had several guys ask me if I had a V8 in mine..It sports a MagnaFlow that flows very well. Plus it's aluminum and won't rust. Perfect fitusing all OEM brackets and hangers Installed in 45 minutes. Single entry and dual (L&R) exit.

I no longer have my Spyder. And I can't remember what the diameter of the piping was, but it was a direct bolt on the stock manifold.
