Oil Pressure sending unit

I've got a 86 Mr-2 with the stock 1.6 engine. My oil sending unit is bad and I tried to get at it today. Is there any special trick to removing it? Thanks in advance.

be gentle and forceful. If you're just trying to remove a bad one, use vise grips and spin (counterclockwise, as normal). When putting the new one one you can use vise grips or a set of channel locks, but it's good to use a rag between them and the grips -- do NOT tighten the grips/channel locks down.... just tight enough to turn it.

Oil Perss

I would consider a gauge upgrade. Perhaps to something like an autometer gauge. They are more acurate and they use fittings thats are easier to install. cost around $60-$80

be careful in the choice of gauges you make for this.... the MR2 isn't your standard car... I would not trust an oil line on a front engine going into the car... never would trust an oil line running into an MR2......

if you want to go this route, spend the extra and find an electronic gauge with an actual sensor -- running that oil line would be annoying and very difficult to notice a leak if one occurred.

oil

I've had an oil line running into my mr2 for almost a year it goes from where the sender used to be to a hole in the fire wall where some harness wires run through. From there it goes down under the center consol I have never had a problem but I can imagine what one would be like.
