Your best bet is to get a 3SGTE. You can turbo a 5SFE but as noted, it's not particularly reliable. You can also keep your existing 5S block and add a 3SGTE head which will result in a 2.2L turbo... that's the "best" route in my opinion.
If you decide to just turbo the 5SFE, you need to keep the boost down to a low level on stock internals. It's also a lot more complicated than a straight 3S swap.
