would it be safe for the engine(3s-gte) get get bored out to 2.2? is there any aftermarket support for a boosted 2.2 3s-gte? im think low compression pistons, tie rods? i guess crank shaft wouldnt be different from an aftermarket crank for a 2.0 3s-gte, right?
Cause i was thinking, it would raise torque and hp easily.
but i got warned against boring out turbo blocks.
Any toughts on this?Anyone read something about it or know someone who did it?

Overbore to 2.2 not a good idea.
On the other hand there are several companys that
have 3sgte 2.2 stroker kits.
Basically a different crank,con-rods and pistons etc.
Some people even peice togther their own using
a 5sfe crank I believe.
supposedly the 5sfe rank is strong enough to handle some
serious boost.
The stroker kits from the east are expensive about
$3000 usd.
I don't rember the exact web page but there is a guy in the
states selling stroker kits that include a 5sfe crank, con rods,
and pistons.
I'll do a goolge and see if I can find it later.
These kits were alot cheaper.

i'll be running that much boost on my stock motor.....well....with race fuel at the track though......i dont think i wanna boost that much on 94 pump......
naw id wanna be pushing 12-13 psi on the streets with a scramble of about 16psi and around 20 at the trackon race gas.I think ill just use forged pistons and con rods, balanced crank, blue print engine and port and polish head.
Hey Q, how much HP do you think youll be making at the wheels

stroker kit??? are you serious. do you know how bad that is for an engine? i say over bore the engine. cause with a stroker kit you are lowering your rod ratio, which inturn means you have to lower your redline, if you dont want to sideload your cylinder walls. i mean mr2 have what about a 1.56 rod ratio which is pretty low already so i wouldnt suggest lowering any further. by the way an ideal rod ratio is 1.75:1
As for getting to 2.2 liters, the best route to go is to use the 5SFE block along with the 3SGTE head.
That is what Mike Colon is running in his street driven low 10 sec car ... that should be 9s by the end of the summer.
