IIRC the dizzy on the 5s sits off the head above the trans (end of #4/end of engine).... did you clean all residual oil when you pulled the dizzy? If so, either the dizzy is leaking internally or you have a rear main leak.... worse case scenario you have a front main leak on the trans, but it would be gear oil not motor oil (different consistency and smell)

Sounds like it may be either the rear seal or that end of the oil pan. ...

It's easy to find the leak yourself and it's a lot cheaper than the dealership will be.

Clean the engine pretty well with any degreaser (Simple Green or generic from the dollar store.) Pour in UV dye. Run engine for a few minutes. Check for leaks with a black light.

The UV dye is about $5 from any auto parts store.

This is the second time recently this oil dye has been mentioned. I've never heard of a dye for the oil. Just for freon.
Whats in it? How long can it stay in the crankcase?

It's a florescent green dye that reacts to ultraviolet light. It advertises itself as people compatible with oil, coolant, brake fluid, gas. It disperses in oil so it doesn't cause any problems. If anything, it lowers the viscosity a tiny amount. I wouldn't be worried about leaving it in the oil until the next scheduled change.

It takes 15 minutes to find the oil leak. Way less time than it will take you to have the dealership diagnose it.

Changing the rear main seal is hard and time consuming.

Thanks Ghosty. Learned something new today!
Henry,
Check the easy spot 1st. The oil pan gasket in that area. Thats an easy fix.
If it's the rear seal, you will have to pull the transaxle, clutch and flywheel. It's either that or pull the whole engine, then the clutch and flywheel. Take your pick.

what works well for cleaning oil off is using brake cleaner..... just don't douse painted objects with it and you should be fine. This is common use in shops for cleaning oil to find leaks.

Brake cleaner is awesome stuff. Love it. But yeah, keep it away from paint and rubber.
