HEY HOWS IT GOING IM HAVE FEW QUESTIONS..
1st question Is, due all the 3sgte engines have the same horse power from all the years?
2nd would any year of the 3sgte engine fit on a 91 mr2 5sfe, and what year would be the best one too installed on a 91
Only the 2nd gen( '91-95) USDM came with the 3sgte which has 200hp/200ft.lbs. (flywheel)
The JDM has 245hp not sure of the torque. I think they were produce '91-98.
Many have done the 3sgte swap into their N/A's . It's been covered a 1000 times on this forum. Do a search. There's tons of info on it.
can i get the 3sgte jdm engine in usa or is it only in japan?
is there a specific code for the jdm engine? and is it more expenisive than the 91 95 engine
Unless you find one already in the USA, you will have to ship one here to the states. many parts are interchangeable with USDM model, but if you're gonna do that, might as well get the USDM.
There's a huge aftermarket support for the USDM 3sgte. Thats the route I would go.
Any 3sgte will be a relatively easy swap. All the mounts will bolt right up.
The best is the gen3 JDM engine. They are significantly improved in several areas and make more power. They are also the most expensive option and hardest to find parts for. If you are going to get one, get a rear clip. Do not just buy the engine without ALL the accessories and the ECU.
I Found The 3gen 240 Hp With Tranny And Ecu Wires Basically Everything, With Instalation 4800-5500 And I Found The Other Gen 2 Jdm Engine 225 With Instalation 4000-4500, They Could Make The Gen 2 Smog Legal But They Cant Make The Gen 3 Legal.
But I Dont Mind The Whole Legal Thing I Got People Lol.
Anyways I Dont Know Which One Too Get The Jdm Gen 2 Or 3 Or The 3sgte 200hp One..
That's actually a pretty good price for an installed gen3. If you have the budget, go for it.
JDM gen2s can be drilled for EGRs and will then pass Cali smog. gen3s will never pass US smog legally. Since you "got people," you should be fine.
So you are goign to be paying someone else to do the wrenching, right? In that case, a gen3 sounds like the best bet. Make sure to get a startup warranty from the shop.
Yea I Would Have The Budget By The End Or Begining Of Next Month Trying To Save Some Money For Other Things Too.
Yea Gen 2 Sounds Good But If They Make It Smog Legal It Loses Like 20 Hp Than Thats Just Having The Normal 3sgte Engine.
I Would Love Too Go With The Gen 3 It Bring Unlimited Slip And An Hks Filter And Its 20 To 60 Thousand Miles
Yea Im Going Too Let Them Too The Wrench Time I Dont Wanna Fuck It Up And I Dont Got All The Exact Tools, They Could Come Too My House And Do It There Or Pick Up My Car Or I Could Drive Over There

Converting a JDM gen2 to smog-legal won't take away the 20hp. That is from other things, mainly the more aggressive ECU tuning. You don't care about smog anyway so why not just keep the JDM gen2 without an EGR?
It's actually "Limited Slip Differential", not unlimited.
If the HKS filter is the green "mushroom" type, be careful. Those are reported to have very poor filtering capabilities.

I always wondered about those HKS filters if they might get sucked in the Turbo. I didn't think they would have poor filtering properties. Those things are pricey too.:
I think I would go with the USDM. But only because of parts availability. Though many parts are interchangeable. Only a small issue, but it would be the tipping point for me.Thats a hard decision to make.
Just my 2 psi
