5SFE Engine Change

I just installed a 5SFE in a 91 MR2 after my son left the oil filter loose and spun a bearing.The replacement engine ran terrific until that fateful night my older son wrecked it. We still started it a few times before dismantling the car. It sat in our basement for 5 years.
I replaced the timing belt, serpentine belts and clutch. Thats it.
It started immediatly and idled great. Problem is it will not rev above 2500 RPM without shutting down (like the key is turned off). It does not stall out but goes back to idle. I am not getting a CEL. The cut off point lowers as it warms up down to about 1500 RPM. Any ideas??

It was as I suspected. We had crushed the throttle position sensor during the install. I thought I had the contact aligned but not so. Also had to replace an injector. Runs terrific!
